I know this has been asked before but I cannot search the posts. Does anyone have any pointers for the board volume for high wind sailing e.g 25kts+. I am 80-85kg and usually sail a 105L board (yep 20+weight=board vol). Even though my board is only 242cm long I still find it lifts in high wind and become very twitchy in gybes. I have heard that I should go to 85L for big days but just wanted to check what everyone else thinks. I can water start and I dont expect to be uphauling in 25kts+

I'm ~90kegs and sail a JP 92L FSW most of the time.
Once it starts getting to the +25knt range I switch down to a JP 82L RWW
Like Mark said though, once the wind is pushing 30kn and above, the 4.5m is on and I change fin sizes

Really Jason? I'd give anything to be near Gerroa and Sanctuary Point instead of Canberra.

I'm 92kg and happily sail my 94L Kode in anything up to 35kts.

However I completely agree with Jason, LBG is a tricky place to sail and sometimes you can get stranded if you're relying on water starts....my Lake board is a 119 Carbon Art.

Smaller fins work wonders when you're trying to keep your board on the water....I'd try that first.

I reckon as soon as its over 25kts, you can use the same volume as your body weight.
I'm 72kg and I use 70-74lit in these wind strengths.
Seems the other respondents find similar.

Less width and more rocker can also make a good board for high winds if you want comfort, but you would tend to be planning less often and have a lower top speed.
