Help needed – working in the Windsurfing industry.

We are having real trouble finding someone to fill our sales position at Auswind and I am hoping that you or someone you know would like to work in the sport we love.

I apologise to anyone that may think it inappropriate to post this request here but it is a very real offer and potentially the launch of someone’s career.

Auswind – One of Australia’s largest distributor of high quality watersports products is growing and requires someone to help us promote Windsurfing, Kitesurfing, and Stand Up Paddling.
We require a motivated team member to assist with:
• Delivering exceptional service to wholesale customers.
• Organisation and processing of customer orders including invoicing, packing and shipping.
• All facets of stock management.
• Involvement in short and long term planning.
• Product demonstrations and displays.
The following attributes will help you to flourish in this role:
• A love of Watersports – We are looking for a keen windsurfer with a good technical knowledge of all windsurfing equipment for this role, knowledge of Kitesurfing and SUP advantageous.
• Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, MYOB) will help along with good organisational and administration skills.
• Enjoy interacting with people face to face and over phone- Auswind operates a high service, relationship building approach to our Watersports customers at both a retail and wholesale level.
• Motivation to go the extra mile for our customers will be highly regarded,
• Ability to work closely as part of a team and to be able to operate autonomously when required.
• A good level of fitness – we are very busy in summer and also spend a lot of time on the water! We are all riding (and often testing and feeding back on) the latest Windsports equipment.

Have had quite a few guys asking for more information about the job, so this should help:-

Job Description

• Wholesale Sales (telephone and local).
• Processing of orders, picking, packing and shipping.
• Answering of incoming Auswind phone calls.
• Assistance with customer queries, email, telephone and retail. (Either dealing directly or referring to the person with relevant experience).
• Compiling and distribution of marketing material.
• Establishing and maintaining a professional and friendly relationship with customers and suppliers.
• Copying and distribution of reviews emails to customers.
• Responding to relevant Windsurfing threads on Seabreeze.
• Assisting with incoming goods.
• General stock tasks i.e. Stocktakes, investigation of discrepancies. etc.
• Maintaining warehouse in a neat and orderly manner.
• Assistance with various promotions / demos / events / etc.
• Local deliveries.
• Manage and stocktake demo & consignment gear.
• Involvement in long and short term planning as part of the team.
• Riding, understanding and promoting Auswind products whenever possible.
• Spreading the “Auswind Message”

o We are promoting some of the best sports.
o We are selling a lifestyle.
o We are an ethical business that we can all take pride in.
• Backup for other team members whilst on leave.
• Other reasonable duties as requested.


Skills & Experience required

• Team player with ability to work autonomously.
• Attention to detail, in particular invoicing, stock, correspondence with customers (i.e. spelling and grammar),
• Exceptional customer service.
• Good communication:- accurate and timely. It is critical that retailers have as much information as possible, but we must recognise that they are very busy at times so we must also be concise, especially in summer.
• Hands on, be it packing, cleaning, unloading, repairs etc.
• Computer skills:- MYOB, Email, Excel, Word and ability scan resize and email articles and reviews. Joomla, Photoshop (or similar) advantageous.
• Maintain a professional & presentable image.
• Honesty and credibility.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
