Looking for a new sail for my jp supersport 136l. Trying to choose between the 6.7 hellcat or hornet . The sail I've been using is a 6.5 3 cam but past its use by date.
Returned to the sport after a long layoff love the new board but need a sail to match. Which of the two sails would span the greatest wind range and any other advice . Cheers

Only can speak for the Hellcat, as I've got two of them (5.2 & 5.8), but never ridden the Hornet. The Hellcat has quite a deep and low draft which provides plenty of bottom end, so it can go reasonably early for a sail of it's size, which helps you if you need to get planing early. I also find they depower quite well, so if you need to spill wind and keep control, they'll sort you at the top end as well at a cost of outright speed.

They're a good comfortable blasting sail, and really shine in transitions. They are easy to rig, and not that technical to sail well. My downside is that I suspect you can get comparable (sometimes superior characteristics) in cheaper sails. Well, that's my experience anyway. Hope it helps.

2014 reviews Hellcat and Hornet reviews from Windsurf magazine ...

Hornet

Hellcat

Not the same sizes as what you are considering, but there should still be some helpful comments.

Cheers, have to say leaning towards hellcat now,
Looks like with the advances in sail design the cams are an overkill unless your a serious racer.

I have the Hellcat 7.7 it's about 3 years old (I bought it second hand )and love it , great for light wind planing and can handle a good 22 knots or maybe more, but after reading hornet review and looking at new stuff I like the look of the Hornet. The one place my Hellcat is wearing is in the
Luff with the battens rubbing over the mast.
I feel the Hornet probably give more control with the cams of new Hornet there maybe less wear in luff ?
I probably need to use more down haul to pull battens away from mast.
