Am moving to the Gold Coast next month, and buying new wavesails, can I ask what 2 Sail sizes I'm most likely to use through winter SE/summerNE. I'm a featherweight at 62kg and use waveboards 69l to 83l. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and could save me some bills, thanks guys.

Hi DP,

The sizes usually seen at the train go from 5.5 to 7. This is flat water so you might want to go a bit smaller for waves.

Haircut and greenleader might have a better idea of what's needed but if you're wavesailing then a 5.2 or thereabouts and a 6 would be what I'd use but bear in mind that I can't gybe in waves so take this with a lump of salt.

The goldie doesn't get nuking winds so going below a 5 is silly, I've used a 5 once in the 9 months windsurfing I've been here, otherwise a 5.7 does me most of the time.

Good luck, hope to see you out there soon!

Hi i am a bit heavier than you(66kg) an i use three a 4.2 5.0 and 5.9 that gets me going in almost any. But Justin (haircut) uses a 5.6 that works like a 5.8 and a 4.7 hopes it helps

if you are moving to the goldie better get 9.5 m for strong wind and a 12m for those lighter days

Yep. Happy to have you on board. 90% of my wavesailing is done with my 5.3. My 2 boards are 88l and 75l. I have fattened up to 75kg. With this kit i have lived very hapilly in the waves of the Gold Coast and surrounds for many years now. I do have the advantage of being able to sail anytime. The 5.3 prob gets me out 2-3 days a week (though not lately)
