I think most of them are after unregistered or not running for quick wrecking cash, or registered ones people need to ditch fast so will take less $$.

If the former, wrecking on Gumtree probably nets you more cash.

If the latter, a day spent detailing and some effort to advertise will get you twice the $$ than the 'cash for cars' mob will pay

Used one to get rid of my sons Camry, he paid 2k for the car then drove it for 6 years and got $500 back from the scrapers. Called in the morning and they were around in the arvo. Wreckers didn't want to know about it so good result all round.

I got $250 5 years ago, but I drove it there myself. I gave it to some place in Fairfield. You need to bring the ownership papers with you

500 to pick up an old camry's a good deal; I only got 300 after mine got totalled in the Brissy hailstorm, but had to drive it there myself (minus the back window). Still better than a wrecker though, last experience with one of them was 100 for an old land cruiser, so I'd say scrap (=cash for cars) is the way to go...

Spray paint it with high gloss lacquer.

Just clean it up and put it on Gumtree like MarkOz mentioned, just put a higher price than you think its worth so people think there getting a bargin when you drop a couple hundred dollars off.

Always works for me, Ive sold heaps of stuff on there like that for usually way more than I buy it for.

If you sell to a scrapper, check if they donate cars to ses/mfb/cfa for training. We're supported locally by a scrap merchant who delivers whole cars for us to practice our skills on then picks up the 'convertibles' once we have competed our training. Same amount of steel left and we get to refine our rescue skills (resulting in better chance of survival for road accident casualties) so win for all involved.

A friend of mine had to pay a wrecker $300 to take her Ford Telstar away from Bondi. It was out of rego, but perfectly drivable. If you can get any money you're doing well.

Many moons ago I got rid of my fairmont ghia this way.

They asked me how much I wanted ($6k) which I knew was what it was worth selling direct to a dealer. It was a couple less than what I could have got on gumtree but the engine was leaking oil and I couldn't be bothered to fix it. The day before I called them I cleaned it with degreaser. Had they asked me about it when they inspected it I would have told them but they didn't. I figured they don't believe anyone so no point asking. And they pretty much came immediately so I guess they figure how much fixing up can you do in an hour.

So moral of story, have realistic expectations of price, clean it up before you call them and keep your mouth shut.

Oh no - not the blue wagon.

What are you updating to that can carry the necessary sporting gear?

Lol Jamie, it would make a great LG bush basher except for the fact it would fall apart getting over the lumps off Lake George Rd onto the flats.
Wayno, I wish you could still do what you are suggesting, insured for way more than its worth. RIP Dunnydore.
