Hi Everyone,
I've recently discovered seabreeze after doing a few searches on windsurfing, & am after a bit of advice please.
Like lots of others I used to sail in the late 80's / early 90's. I threw away nearly all my gear except for my fav old Merimbula Sailboards 9'2" wave slalom & a Wild Winds 5.7 rig. I looked at my gear collecting dust on Thursday, bit the bullet, & had a go in a gusty westerly at the "Squids Ink" at Belmont. I was surprised how it (mostly) came back. Had a ball, but was KNACKERED afterward !
I live in Newcastle NSW & am keen for a floaty "do everything" board that will cope with 10 = 25 kts blasting around Lake Mac & a bit of small wave stuff.
I'm well out of touch with modern gear. A lot of the bigger volume short boards I've seen online appear to have very little rocker. How do they cope with big chop / small waves ?
I'm 45, around 100kgs & would say my ability was intermediate.

Welcome back! There will probably be a few guys sailing from near teralba sailing club. Pretty smooth in a westerly but still gusty.
With noreasters coming soon, people will start sailing coal point and Belmont slips just west of 16 footers. In a southerly most sail either valentine or marmong point.
In terms of boards, a freeride or fsw board will be the most flexible. Lots of good boards around 100-120 litres that would work on the lake.

The Starboard Futura 121ltr is the way to to. Fast, handles the chop, gybes well. Can get it airborne, but if that's your thing, get a smaller board.

Feedback I've had is that the futuras are not great in larger chop? Uncomfortable.. Haven't sailed one myself though..
