Checked out Jervis Bay and the runs look enormous! I know it can get big chop. Is there any where you can get long runs in clear wind and flat water? Whats the best time of year for sailing down there?

JB is best in the summer time with Nor'easters and can get lumpy at times, 30 mins south is Sanctuary Point which can work in NE, S or west depending where you launch from. 30 mins north there is Lake Wollumboola, Works in NE and S winds but can get super shallow in the summer months. There's also Callala Bay which is close to Wollumboola and it's great in a southerly and works in NE winds as well.
Don't forget Lake Illawarra or Gerroa while down this way, Must sail spots. There's more I'ts just a matter of driving around and having a look.

Cheers

I prefer Sanctuary Point in a Noreaster in Summer, as you can do runs most of the way across.

If you are chicken like me, you can go to the channel marker and turn around, while it is still shoulder deep.

In a southerly (usually in winter) it also works but not as good. In a westerly it has a lot of wind shadow, so it is not ideal.

If you launch from Paradise beach, there is no wind shadow, but you have to walk out a fair way to avoid the super shallow parts.

John Williams reserve at SP in FULL of weed now due to the change in fishing laws in the last few years i believe, kinda stinky too cause of this.. Paradise Beach in a west is sick.. i have real estate here and is where l taught myself to windsurf many years ago.. you don't have to walk out. walk your gear down from the end of loralyn Ave (through the spare lot and down the stairs) and then jump off the rocks in a small bay its a very consistent wind for a westerly here is very bumpy though.. SP even has a windsurfing shop can you believe it !!
