Max's Yellow Interceptor and Big Boppa's Yellow Pursuit were both XB 4 door sedans - Max had a 351 and Big Boppa a 302
March Hare was in a XA 6 cyl
The Black Interceptor was a XB GT Coupe. The original one is now owned by museum in England that has a lot of other movie cars. I remember seeing it once on the Gold Coast when I was about 15 before it got moved over there. There is a company that build and provide parts to create replicas of all the cars including selling Main Force Patrol decals etc. The bongo van that gets drilled by Big Boppa in the opening of Mad Max 1 was George Millers own van - they ran out of $$$ so used his car. Incidentally the opening scene of Max 1 was one of the last shoots of original filming. There was also supposed to be another Character called the 'Dark One' that rode with Max, in the opening you can see the name under M.Rockatansky on the side of the Yellow Interceptor. This was going to be May's husband and you hear Max tell May to call the Dark One later in the movie as well.
Yes I could be called a bit of a Mad Max fan - Well 1 and 2, 3 was very disappointing.
Thanks Evl, this is great. And all be it not aussie, and bit of Lemmie in the morning isn't too bad either.
Can't say I recall The Chain Reaction, but a couple of other Aussie muscle car classics are Midnight Spares and Running on Empty.
I remembered earlier that a few years ago someone had a song out on the J's about the Night Rider, Can't remember who though, only that it started with the line from the movie - "I am the Night Rider, I am a fuel injected suicide machine, I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out of controller"
