Thinking of heading North to Exmouth in late July.

Anyone got some real life experience that could advise.
Tried searching Seabreeze but didn't get much that was usefull.

What's the chances of decent wind?

Which caravan park would you recommend? (tent site)

Best flat water sailing spots?

2wd only & no boat so beach access could be limited.

Been there heaps of times and your heading there a bit early for winds.
July August tends to be more eastlys which is dead offshore.
The best time to go is September/October I've had some great sails there September fully lit on 4.2 - 4.7 wave gear

If your really organised with your camping (slightly more than Gnaraloo due to the long drive into town for supply's eg water milk bread.) thens theres heaps of spots in the national parks with a camp host very similar to corros set up, a site dunny and thats about it. Very cheap and right on the waters edge so you can sail rest and sail some more

Its just a long drive to town.

I've stayed at yardie creek homestead before great campsite close to great sailing spots and about 1/2hr drive to the nearest shops. The do a great sunday roast

Heaps of great spots to sail from yardie creek all the way up to the light house. Just look for the kites flying over the top of the dunes will give some great flat water spots. No secrets anymore

2wd fine for everything.

Make sure you go to the potshot motel for a lunch beer and take your board shorts they have an awesome pool in the beer garden

Heading up that way as well in mid July with family, booked into Yardie Creek Caravan Park for 4 nights after hearing great reviews on internet. Also staying over at Coral Bay and Shark Bay for a total of 3 weeks though not taking the windsurf gear as unlikely there will be any decent wind.

Will be taking a sea kayak along so if you've got a kayak then would be a good light/no wind alternative!

Yeah but what's the point?
Sailing on the inside is no different to sailing in the river so why drag your gear all that way to do that?
Sandy bay is definitely the best place to sail or kite up that way but in July/August, the wind is typically between zero and 15 knots tops. And mostly offshore.
Leave the gear at home and enjoy the diving.

{edit} on second thoughts, take up lots. Then if it's any good I can borrow some.

Hopefully with el nino taking over we might get an early start this year. Would be great to go back to an August start like a few years ago.

Yeah first day the wind changes we'll be there, going to make an effort to do the offshore break out past Graveyards and do the "Yardie Creek" offshore break, might be more ready for it now, plus the usual spots! For those wanting flatter water Sandy Bay, inshore Yardi Creek, Mesa and Osprey are good. C U there....

good to see some seabreeze browsing addiction even during the Euro summer !

It's hard not to go back - so probably we'll see you again up there in October.
