Thanks, right after posting I could see that way of better alignment so added a second photo. It took me a while to figure what the hook is for. It's the starting point right?

The first pic would work welll with the hooks on the severne sails but not with eyelets.

Hi Agrid, I loop the rope around the middle sheave with the end knot to the inside of the boom. Then put the other end of the rope through the cleat form the inside to the out and knot it to the outside of the boom. To rig your outhaul, you pull the loop through the clew of the sail and then hook the loop over the horn. Pull the rope through the cleat to set your outhaul tension and it will equalise around the horn. Swindy is right, keep an eye on your rope it wears through after a while, but this system is awesome it is just so quick.

first pic is perfect for severne reflexes/OD's, don't listen to bloody jusavina, he only knows RSX.....

With the Paddles B'mere method I was a little worried that the loop might flip off the hook, as happened to me one time, late in the evening a fair way off the coast. But when I tested, tying off the excess rope sat next to the hook and held the loop in place even with significant negative outhaul.
