Had a quick blast for a couple of hours Sunday at Pt ormond and Mick and I managed a great drag to near williamstown and back.
It's got me to thinking that a epic blast in a good NWer could easy get you to Geelong.
So who out there would like to join in such a blast?
The logistics would be just as much fun as the blast, but as they say, many hands make light work.
I envisage it as a social blast not a race.

well so far it's 4.
this is going to happen a short notice and soon, I would have thought there where way more adventurous windsurfers out there.
So put your hands up and be counted.

Hi Laff77,
My plan is to pick a good nw'er 20-25kts, and get an idea of wind pattern west of port phillip bay, northerlies tend to die off about 3pm and as 65k's should be about 2 hrs sailing leaving about 11am should be plenty.
trying to hussle up a couple to 3 support boats to aid in rescue and navigation. although you can see the bellarine penisula so aiming shouldn't be a chore.
some of us have GPS and it's not a race so hanging together will be the go. Maybe once in sight of Pt Henry it could be on for bragging rights.
No one I know who's coming has formula gear, all have freeride kit, and in the winds we want 6 to 6.5 is heaps.
Maybe we can get some Yaghties to station themselves at way points?
In a 3 boat support, 1 boat would sweep 1 would guide and 1 would postion at a waypoint. sounds like a lot of organising for 2hrs but always plan for the worst, hope for the best and take whatever comes.
So I'm counting you as a starter Laff77.
Of course I'm also open to expert suggestions.

I am still trying to get support boats.
Have emailed the naval cadets on a tip and waiting for a reply.
still all is not lost as I will be getting some Iceburger practice at sandy point this weekend. am trying out the complete range of KA Koncepts including the new 5m speed dedicated version wind willing.
now I just need instructions on recording tracks and data on my etrax gps.
anyone else going there this weekend?

Tony,
if the cadets don't work out and you have enough notice you could get the SES out there to lend a hand. though i warn you their boat crews need all the practice they can get, and may need the saving in the end. but it would give you a bit of peice of mind knowing that they're there.

Tony,
Am still keen to give this a go, so let me know when its happening. I am heading O/S on the 16th of July, so not much time left. You say you are trying KA sails. Have you tried the '05 range, I am gonna get a 155 GO board for the girlfriend and wanted to be able to use it myself in light wind. Am looking at either the 7.8m KA Kontrol or an 8.0m Sailworks Retro. Any feedback on the '05 Kontrol? would it be suited to a wide board like this?
Cheers

Thanks poley,
I will email the SES, still no answer from Cadets.
Laff77,
your on the list, we just need a weekend NWer.
As it happens I also have a Kontrol 8.4 05 and it's cool
I tend to kite in 6.5m+ weather but when it's not even kite wind this Kontrol is fun. I use it on my wifes Fanatic eray150 and my Naish kialua( I teach with this board and hire it to those keen to try)
the name Kontrol suits it. In feb at Sandy Point I cruised to the inlet mouth with it in very light wind, and downwind, part way back wind kicked in at 20+kts and SW so a direct upwinder was called for.
very well powered but sail behaved itself and cranked upwind to carpark, swaped for a 5.8/small board and went back out.
Hope thats an answer, or you could try it some time.
