When you're driving home from work, its stinking hot. The traffic is heavy. You've got two tired kids in the back of the car that need to be fed, bathed and put to bed. And a change is blowing up the bay. The glassy water has tiny white caps, but its blowing 20 knots. You knew that flat water will last for about 20 minutes, and then there will be some great bump and jump.

But not for you........

Was there too.

Everyone sails at Carlisle st now. Too many kites in the pond, and apparently the powers that be can't stop leaking sewerage in there.

I was there too (Safety Bay last Sunday). Got in around 3pm in a 5.2 (a mistake but at that time it didn't look it was strengthening up)... after 15 min I was going out to change to 4.2.

Many Many kites last Sunday in the pond and only a few windsurfers. LOC maybe?

No kids here but I remember very well skipping some uni classes to windsurfing. A friend of mine (a lawyer) used to show up in suit and tie running from the court when he had a quick hearing...board in the roofracks parked in front of the courthouse.

I was on a 5.3mt out at safety bay. Had about 1.5 hrs and came in and yes it did pick up to 4.3Mt weather. Lot's of weed out there. But towards the end when the wind pick up it got better. The further down the coast I sailed the wind got better and the waves got bigger. Hopefully so more action soon

Dear Sputnik,
Your problem is windsurfers' main problems in all over the world. Family, wife, kids, responsibilities. There is no solution. This is the reality of our life. The most important thing is to stay healthy. Bye,

Melih,

Sorry, but you are wrong.

When the children leave home, you suddenly have more disposable income. You can buy a new van (I did ) , you can buy new sails (I did ) and you can buy new boards (I did )

You will also find that your wife is not interested in windsurfing, so she can stay at home whilst you ogle the Pretty Young Things at the beach (I did and I do ).

When will all this happen, I hear you ask? Well, the last girl of mine left home when she was about 25, so Spunik, put up with the inconvenience and know there is light at the end of a l-o-n-g tunnel.

Thanks for the words of support. I had my kids late, so its a loooooooong tunnel. I have brought forward some of the advice you've provided though. Life's too short. My plan is to get the boys windsurfing ASAP and we can all go together. What is a good age to start? I was thinking 3.
