Anyone got a pic or two of Crazy Waves on a good day? I've been there a couple of times in summer but never seen it when cranking in a front. Ta.

For those of us who have never been there, can you give us a description of Crazy Waves?. I see that it claims victims. Is it really confused waves, or some other sinister beasty ready to eat the unwary?

From WSP web (http://www.windsurfingperth.com.au/travel/crazywaves.html)

"Crazy Waves is a spot that only really works in the winter.

It is located close to Fremantle and ten minutes from Perth.

This spot works well with the wind blowing from the North round West to the South.

It is safe and it is the best spot for jump and bump sailing in winter (the waves are only there in winter).

It easy to get out because the waves are breaking on a sand bar about five foot deep.

The sand bar is about three hundred meters wide and about three miles out to sea.

This makes the wave break from all angles and makes it so that you can jump and wave ride with the wind coming from the North round to the South It is the best fun in a strong winter blow.

There is a good bottle shop close by to get a beer after a great session."

What about Crystals on a NorWester? Can work quiet nicely. Only problem is cars/vans are out of site and get regularly broken into.

crazies will probs never work in summer. It needs a macca swell. But it is VERY easy to sale. The waves are soft, and you can stand in most parts. The only difficulty can be getting out if its dead onshore (ie. westerly). If this is the case and you struggle in the shory maybe launch from the other side of the grione and sail up wind. Also NEVER park at the carpark, unless their are lots of sailors there. Your car will get broken into too. Use south beach instead.

Geeries (aka the G) works on a wsw round to sw. It needs a big swell (ie 3.5m+ ideally) and is pretty gnarly. Perhaphs not the best place for those not confident in the waves. Can be safe if your careful but dont try and come in anywhere downwind of the carpark path. Bad news.
BTW its near avalon- just nth of the cut.

crazy wave really needs wind to make the waves break over swell.

Good example I've driven past there when its a northerly and its completely flat as the wind swings to a norwest or straight westerly (the best wind) the swell picks up to waist to chest high.

Generally if the wind drops out so does the swell not long after.

best winds 20+ westerly or w/sw

the shore break near the groin can get you other wise its the mellowest wave going great for jumping only.

If condtions look suss everywhere else go here
