Hi flanagaj
We have recently come back from a trip from Sydney to Cairns and we hired a campervan for three weeks. Just to let you know there is a price war going with campervans, tours, trips, etc, so you can pick up a bargain on as there are a lot less tourists now visiting Australia.
One way they tried to fool you is to say the campervan is only $29 per day, then by the time you add in insurance, and all the extra fees it can blow out the real amount you have to pay which is kind of sneaky.
Supermarkets do the same, so it's definitely worth shopping around to see if you can pitch one campervan company against another one to get a good price. This is exactly what we did as originally we looked at Jucy and Travellers Autobarn in Sydney, but in the end we went with a company called travelwheels campervan hire in Sydney.
The staff were friendly and they offered to price match our deal, so we ended up booking with travelwheels, here is a link to their website
www.travelwheels.com.au/site/campervan-hire-australia/If you are short of cash another option is to go for a campervan relocation deal.
These are brilliant and you can hire a campervan for as little as $1 per day! Basically you relocate a campervan from one city in Australia to Another one and you only pay a $1 per day! We have bagged three of these $1 per day campervan relocation deals whilst over here in OZ.
We found quite a few of these $1 deals on this website called
www.onewaycampervans.comHope this helps
