2004 is not old. I have a board from 1996 and it's still as strong as ever.

1996? Do you use it or is it in the shed? My board gets used several times a week.

i dunno im on a 6.6 1980`s rrd and its better than any 2010 board. im charging past noobs on new boards. ..Thanks regie..100$ that rrd pisses alover f20 and starboards.

about the only thing that is likely to make a board brittle is when the laminate is exposed to sunlight over a prolonged period causing the exposed resin to breakdown. Usually only a prob with early polyester/clear boards, most boards these days are a created using epoxy resins (a more flexible resin system than cheap polyester) and then painted to protect the laminate from general wear and tear. Carbon looks sexy when its glossy but if the resin isn't UV stabilized, longevity will be compromised. If you've got a board that you can see the laminate just keep it out of the sun as much as possible
