I'm interested in finding out what range of boards people own, age of board, percentage they use each board, and riders weight. and whether you sail in flat water, wave, or both.

I'll try and collate info down the track and post it.

2012 Carbon Art SL58 70%
200? Futura 111L 30% since sold
2013 Carbon Art SL66 new unused

I'm guessing it'll end up 50/50% between both Carbon Arts.

yep, fast boards...........slow rider, ha, i've been windsurfing about 7yrs, the gps has been a big part of it for me, and over the yrs it has played a role in seeking conditions, flatness, and equipment choices, at this stage it feels like i could start appreciating the extra speed to come from a speed board, but i mainly go about the same speed on all of the boards, about 32-35kts, about 37kt on speed boards, it looks like sail size plays a big role in speed and fins, the naishes are really short, about 210cm, and really flat, so there really only good in flat stuff, where we sail is crazy thick weed, catapult heaven, so the naishes are good because there is no nose for boom to hit, the 121l falcon is a great light windier for my weight as it feels not as wide at the backend as more race boards are, eg, my 121 falcon is no where near as wide at the tail as the 121jp, and at my weight, and the sail sizes im using, that suits me, im always thinking about gear, lately i've been thinking that i might just get the 113 2013 falcon, the 2013 87l isonic, 2013 jp speed board, 2013 jp light windier, or about a 140l free ride tank, most of my sailing is in between 0-30kts, with most time spent in about 5-20kts, it feels like as i get better, i have less interest in sailing bigger sails, i still spent a lot of time on the 7.7h2, but it starting to feel like the real fun starts with a 7m evo2 on my 110l naish, ha, alright man, now lets here your story

I'm into both but prefer the waves....my list.

85-2008 Fanatic Allwave single fin
93-2011 JP Thruster pro
95-2009 Fanatic FSW single fin
99-2010 Nude chopper twin
102-2013 OES Quad
112-2010 JP FSW pro single fin
115-2012 OES Quad
120-2010 JP X-cite ride single fin
125-2014 OES Quad

I think that's it ?

Rider weight=95kgs give or take a pizza
I use the 115 OES 85% of the time and the rest gets split amongst the rest, The second most used is the 102 OES quad.

Hi Greg,

50/50 flatwater and ocean / waves for me.

Now 80 kilos (was 74 kegs a few months back). Been sailing as much as humanly possible for 1.5 years. Still pretty average...

2008- JP FSW 101 -33.3 (ocean / waves, sail 5.0 to 6.2 meters)
2011-Futura 111 -33.3 (light-ish wind ocean and lake work, sails 6.2- 8 meters)
2006-Type S 93 -33.3 (windy lake blasting, sails 5.0-6.6 meters)

PS- Would like a JP SLW or simular light wind machine, and will sell the JP FSW when my wave skills improve some20

Lot of good info in there Milsy sailing in 30+ kts would be brown shorts time for me.

My story is much shorter. Been at it 5 months - got an old Bic battleship back in feburary and got hooked. I did a lot of reading and research and got a secondhand kit in april from windsurf perth made up of 145 2012 JP Funster, 121 2006 Starboard Carve, along with two masts and 3 sails, booms etc. Since then I have bought a harness, and after some tuning tips from PhilSWR, and a 7.7 H2, I have been happily plonking around in the harness each weekend in the pitiful excuse of winter wind I get in Coffs Harbour.

I'm looking forward to my first "windy" season, learning to water start etc, and I'm looking out for a faster freeride board around the 130ish Lt mark now - the funster feels too big and heavy and the carve is a little too small for use a light wind board. Although, I'm a little worried I might find myself on the carve most of the time when the wind picks up. Really depends if I keep the funster or sell it - in winter I'll need a light wind board. I've still got the Bic monster I suppose but it's soooo heavy OMG.

Tabou Rocket 135 used from about 10 to 20 knots with a 7.3m & 6.6m freeride sails. Fins range from 48cms to about 35cms.

Tabou Rocket 105 used from about 15 to 30 knots with 6.6m 5.9m and 5.5m sails.

Also an older Tiga Wave board I have not used yet for stronger winds.

Try to find flat water, especially when it gets windier. In lighter winds I don't mind a bit of swell or chop.

Male 73kg, Freestyle and waves, Level: baller

Hypersonic 105L (when i'm really bored) - 2%
RRD Wavecult 75L (gun down the line, old school shape, pretty crap compared to new boards in all but perfect waves) - 0%
F2 Maui Project 105L (modified to about 95L ;) - 0%
JP Real world wave 85L - 0% (Is an awesome board but can't match the quad on the wave, need to turn into thruster for lols)
Mistral Joker 99L - 50%
Fanatic quad 86L - 50%

I really only use the Joker for freestyle and small waves and then the Quad for shredding slabs. The other boards just sit around as not really worth selling, take them out occasionally when feeling retro.

95 to 100 kg old fart = male
flat water with occasional chop

winds are light and i like to be on the water
<10 knots - 1990's FUC board=Fanatic Ultra CAT longboard/race with 8.x sails
11 knots - 2002 BTF/BIC Techno Formula 94 cm wide with 10-oh race sail
13-20 knots - BTF/AHD FF 160/79cm with 8.x sails
16-25 knots - 2006 AHD/BEE 124 with 7.x sails
20+ play on 2000 Fanatic BEE 124/63cm with 6.3 sail

Unfortunately this year the longboard has been used 80% of the time
However, i go out after work on local river whenever i can - it clears me head
It is summer here and had 30 sessions by end of June
My favourite sessions are practice in high winds, longboard on lake with loons in fog and planing in mid winds - around 16 knots
for me TOW=FUN and relaxation and i will take it any way i can
bigger boards to make sure i can get out !!!!
older boards to save $$$

Male 67kg, generally flat water or coastal sailing - very occasional waves.

2011 Carbon Art Freeride 62 - 80% with 6.6 and 5.5 sails
2006 Fanatic Freewave 78 - 10% with 5.5, 5.0 and 4.3

My wife sails as well at our campground. It's a sheltered river mouth where wind is seldom steady enough and from the right direction for shortboard. Patchy, swirly wind makes it ideal for the old long board.
1994 Bic Rumba 310 - 10%
We all use it as a paddle board and currently looking for a kids rig so my 11 yo daughter can start learning.
