But they've got that Billabong logo on them!?
OK, next you're going to say that paying for a sticker to advertise your "favourite" brand is stupid.

I'm wondering if all the teenagers with no idea about surfing will now be going to school with a harness on?

Hell no. I think that people who pay for advertising stickers are akin to Einstein in intelligence.(we really need the new sarcasam smile)

I wonder what percentage of dakine is windsurfing related, im sure its only small, billabong must have seen value there in the company and its future direction, I cant see how you all bag on it being a negative, seriously.

Yeah Da Kine do stuff all windsurfing things these days. Their main business is bags, Back packs, ski bags, snow board bags, camel packs, mountain biking bags, bags, bags, bags and an odd set of thermo form foot straps.

on a positive maybe they may stick a bit of advertising bucks into exposing windsurfing which can only be for the better, glass half full! I didnt know that bags was there main line, big market in that area for them.

in recent times, billabong have purchased :

mrs palmers, kustom shoes, nixon watches, element skateboards, von zipper sunglasses, sector nine skateboards and now da kine.

all the companies retain their management, design teams and hopefully their soul.
however their product is exposed to billabongs worldwide distribution for global consumption.
good or not? who knows!

Is that an educated comment? From what I saw, Dakine had a good range of harness's, harness ropes, footstraps etc....they had some excellent travel bags as well as small back packs....good on em for diversifying and actually finding another way to make a crust.

The shop at the cannery in Paulwela was packed with windsurifng accesories.

...and if you are looking for T Shirts, give them a call (Dakine Shop - Pauwela Cannery)

Time for a rant...

I just recently got 2 pairs of those expensive O'Neil boardies, (on sale for 20 bucks, of course) ...I used to always buy the cheapies but now I know the difference I'll never go back!!!!! (Well, depending on finances!)

These things are FANTASTIC!! The material and the quality -- the cheap ones are made of material which is flimsy and also goes mildewy, and the velcro fly always wears out so you end up exposing yourself, things fall out of the pockets when you waterstart (how many hotel keys have I lost so far??), and so on...

But the "proper" boardies are designed for heavy surfing use, so they're made from the right material - quick drying and super-tough, the pockets close up well, the new "neo-fly" is a brilliant step forward as well...and the Superfeaks are made from stretchy spandex with neoprene panels which makes them soooo comfy!!!

Go the exy boardies!! You won't regret it!!!!
