Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there have been a number of beers consumed after a fine days sailing, and it's been asserted that people on forums just talk sh1t !!!

NOt sure I agree, but there you are, I'm just the new boy.
Well powered up on 5.0.

Finally busted my "never attempted a front loop" cherry today.
Had a couple of goes, got half way around the first time, 3/4 the next.
The hardest part is to actually have a go.

It's great. Not hell windy, but plenty. I was a bit underpowered today, but the lightweights had no problems. Poor gear choice on my behalf.
HAving a lesson tomorrow to try and get these loops sorted. Very excited about that. Got my GoPro sorted today, so all crashes will be documented from now on.
Ian and Michael are in fine culinary form and have been feeding us royally and John was King of Margaritas tonight.
It's hard work I tell ya.
I've got the whole wrong side of the road thing sussed, so I've been chief chauffeur.
It's generally pretty quiet over here though. Not masses of sailors, and the shops are quiet. Seems ot have been hit hard by the GFC. Lots of Euros staying home, I think.

Lee that's what I did. Got married in Maui and a sailing honeymoon. She even said I could go for a session on the big day. I politely declined with clenched teeth seeing it as a test of our marriage.
Cheers

I have to say, if you can't afford Maui, just pick a good forecast, and go to Bundaberg.
It's uncannily like it here. Water temp is the same, red dirt, cane fields, and there is even The Hummock, though it's a wee bit bigger and they call it Mt Haleakala.
The wind is similar, and the waves are about the same.
Less kites here though, thanks to them sensibly being treated like the dirty lepers they are, and being restricted to Outcast Beach only. It's a true sign of civilisation in an otherwise nobly savage land.
The big trucks are a bit different though. In Bundy they cart sugar in them, but here, they put the wheels on funny and roar around in a cloud of global warming, just for the heck of it.
People go shopping here in things that look like a cross between a moon buggy and a mine truck.
I'd love to see someone go bush-bashing in one, with the wheels sticking out a foot on each side, you would get cleaned up by a tree on the first curve.
Kanaha is a really nice spot, with lovely parking and rigging lots of grass and some man eye candy. Not as much as Currumbin though, that's for sure.

HAd my looping lesson today, and was pleased to finish on a high note, as my final attempt saw me complete a full rotation, and land with my feet still in the straps, ready to waterstart.
It's not actually that hard, or scary.
The crash from a typical failed attempt is not as bad as a normal catapult that everyone has done loads of. Well, I have anyway.
Not hooked in means no swing around the mast and no massive bruises on legs or back.
If I can do it, anyone can. I mean, how hard can it be ??

Don't do that. Save yourself now. If you get married then she'll want babies and then your stuffed. Go to Maui now and escape while you can...run..run now!!!!!

No, there is very little kiting here really.
Not really many chicks either, especially compared to Currumbin.
