Planning a trip to Thailand this summer with my girlfriend who has zero interest in sailing. Anyone happen to know of a good island that will keep the girlfriend busy, shopping, drinking, etc. and ...just happen.. to have some wind and windsurfing facilities?

I have no idea if Thailand is even good for it. I passed through Mui Ne Beach in Vietnam 2 years ago and saw the awesome facilities and great winds. It would rock if Thailand had something similiar.

Thanks.

Phuket has windsurfing facilities...a friend of mine windsurfed there a few months before, and a couple just kitesurfed there last month. Not sure about the shopping/drinking part though.

Do a google search on it...there's a few links:

Awesome guys, gives me a few options. I'm a little bit turned off by Phuket though, from what I hear it like playing "spot the Thai", since it is so touristy. I guess it's a trade off though if I want sailing, beach, shopping, etc all together.

Good info tho.
