Nice sailing spot and really nice looking kit Bob!
Noticed that you sail with your front hand up the boom fairly close to the mast. Maybe a trait of 'old buggers' like us as I do the same, though when I look at magazine pics or vids of many PWA pros sailing in 'normal' conditions (ie not well overpowered), most appear to have their front hand further down the boom closer to the harness lines (having a narrower grip on the boom).
Maybe just a case of whatever works best?
Oh Gaz you bugger, I've never thought about it, now I've got something else to worry about

Seriously though I'll have a look next time. I use 30" Hot Sails lines 3 fingers apart and the rig feels stable, I can easily pick my nose and still wave to the girls. I'm now wondering if the pros have their lines further apart like some of the speed sailors do so their hand would look close to the harness line or if my hand looks too far forward because of the very wide lens. Or it's just me, I have a few self taught bad habits that I can't go back on. One being waterstarting, I can waterstart in fairly light wind (don't use/have uphaul) but read here I should start with my back foot on the board, yeh right no can do after 20 years doing it my way

Re my gear, red started as a little joke which is now an obsession

Just ordered a new 2013 red Loft 5.8 Switchblade
