Has anyone any idea of the cost of air freighting your windsurf gear, from Australia to New Zealand (or similar). I'm looking at needing to get three boards, five sails, three masts, two booms, wettie, harness, fins etc from Bris to Christchurch.

Does anyone know if the cost is stupid (over 1K) or reasonable (under 1K)?

I can't answer your question, but an alternative I have heard of is using a freight forwarder to send it over (by boat).

I have a mate who owns a freight forwarder and asked him for a quote to get a board from Auckland to Melbourne a few weeks ago. he reckoned he could do it for 100-150 buks or so but that the customs and airport charges can push the price up big time.

Thanks for these responses everyone. Looks like it would be more expensive than I thought...

Air Menzies in Sydney freight windsurfing gear across the Tasman, not sure if they have an office in Brisbane.
Freight is not to bad, customs and clearance are usually about the same as freight.
As it is personal gear no duty.
Hope this helps.

You're probably looking at around $1200. You need to be careful, Kiwi customs are getting tougher with duties for unaccompanied personal effects. If you are re- locating you will be fine.
If you are going to bring the gear back eventualy, then you can ship as a temporary import, but they may charge you a duty bond which is refunded when the gear goes back to OZ.
