Anyone had any experience with air freighting your personal windsurf equipment into and out of Australia?

Looking to send a few sails to and from Aus

I looked into this last year when we were going to Africa. I didn't find a good solution other than asking the airline for more baggage allowance (which they obliged with). Lucky for us DHL were a sponsor of the event and they give us a really good price to get all our excess gear home. (60kilos!)

One line worth trying is the people who organise student travel freight.

depending on where you are going, you also need to be aware that some countries will sting you for import duties, irrespective of the fact that they are your personal goods and may only be a temporary import.

the rules for unaccompanied goods are different to stuff you have with you

<div>In most cases International air freight is charged by cubic weight which is a factor of weight and volume

<div>So if you have something that is light but bulky you want to compress it down as small as possible, eg. roll the sail tight. Or you can put other heavier items inside and it won't affect the cost.
