Hi guys and girls,

Can somebody give me some advice on where to sail in the Adelaide area?

Coming from the Netherlands i have a week to spend here, before our travel starts towards Melbourne.

From what i figured out, Seacliff could work on Friday? Or are there other spots i should check? I am looking for cross Shore winds and nice waves for wave riding. Will there be waves in the bay or do i need to drive elsewhere?

Cheers,
Niels

Hi Niels, you posted in the General Forum. It would have been better to post it in the SA forum. (could a moderator move this post to the SA forum ?)

Friday is looking good. Definitely for northern beaches anyway. Although the forecast is a long way off and we are in a dodgy period between the winter patterns and the seabreezes. Its not quite hot enough yet for seabreezes.

Thanks for the reply! On mobile the sub menu with the SA section is very well hidden :).

So the seabreeze is from a (west) south west direction?
Really looking forward to a session again, last one was a really good one in Indonesia 3 weeks ago.

Seabreeze direction is SSW. Check out this forecaster below. There are two BOM tools. This is the most accurate one in my opinion (and its the original):

www.bom.gov.au/marine/wind.shtml

BOM has two forecast models. 1-2 days and 3-7 day. Basically, 3-7 day is a "rough guide" only. The 1-2 day is the one to plan by. You'll notice that when a given day changes from the 3-7 day to the 1-2 day, the forecast can radically change sometimes. The 1-2 day forecaster is usually on the money for the northern suburbs.

Great, thanks!

So tomorrow still looks saillable i guess. Almost went to kangaroo island for a small trip on thursday and friday. But couldnt get a Rental car anymore. The sailing potential looked good.

So will you be sailing seacliff tomorrow as well? You'll reckognise me by the Severne sails...allthough probably not the only one :).

Cheers,
Niels

I'm going to Semaphore South (Bower Rd). Post a hello in the SA forum. One guy is going to Day St (wave spot). You'll get more of a response in there than here. Other than that, I'll see you at Sems (which is a B&J / freestyle spot - no waves).

Thanks for the advice. Day ST is middleton? Wind direction with SW is pretty onshore? I am trying to find out where this spot 'dribs' is located. The images i see look promosing. Could you tell me?

Cheers,
Niels
