if I had to make that choice I would keep my starboard i101, and Koncept 6.2 and a 7.5. It would give me a range between 15 and 28 knts.

For Sydney conditions, honestly.
112 slalom board and 7.8 and 6.4 thereabouts slalom sails.

l agree if your lucky enough to live somewhere where the winds can be consistent then you probaly get bye.l started with a board & sail but that was when l lived in the windy state ( Geralton) W.A.

I think it's possible- just...

Ocean, bay, small waves and flat water blasting- 111 Starboard Carve 6.2 and 7.4 free ride sails. Good for 12-20 plus knots, which I guess is most sailable days on the East Coast.

105 Tabou Rocket may be another "one board" option for a bit of everything.

you can go 1 board 1 sail doesn't mean you'll be sailing all the time only when the conditions suit your setup

You might think so but unfortunately in recent years the wind has been consistently light!

It's either windy or it's not on the Northern Beaches of Sydney so I have two sails, one board and a good selection of fins.
I'm 85kgs and have a 2014 Fanatic Falcon 110 with a North warp 7.8m for 12-20knots and a North warp 6.3m for the rest.
Fins sizes 40,38,36,32 and a 32 raked weed fin for those random 25-30+ knot days. (I rarely use the 6.3 as there is so much range in the 7.8)
Mast track position is also vital. On the Falcon it's near the back in lighter days and mid to forward on windy or extreme days.
Plus make sure you have the best spec mast you can afford for your sails as you will get the best performance out of them.
This kit covers me for ocean blasting out the back of Palmy or Newport Reef to flat water speed runs on Pittwater or the lakes.

you guys MUST have WAY better conditions than we have here in Montreal, Kanada
my most used sail is 8.x for my 225+ pounds
to use that sail in the MOST varied of conditions, it is on my Mistral Equipe I LCS-XR longboard
with that same board I can put a 6.9/7.x sail and go in bigger winds and rougher water conditions

this one board/two sail combo could take me from 20 kph to about 50 km and allowance for some gusts above
same fin for both sails

at the chalet of my in-laws, it is a Fanatic Ultra CAT with an 8.x sail = one board + one sail
my current avatar is the F.U.C. board with a MauiSails MS-2 8-oh

however, since i like the planing feeling of a shortboard ....
most used boards includes two other shortboards and two more sail sizes
and i do keep one small shortboard for those epic days

I've got one board (115ltr Rocket) and 4 sails, but I would like a smaller board for 30knt days (though unnecessary... my rocket will handle 30+). I really only use 2 sails... my 6.0 and 7.1, which gets me out in everything from 18kts-28kts. I've used my 5.5 twice this year, so I would say, yes... 1 board and two sails is fine, but if you can afford more gear then more gear is better. Also agree about fins... 3 fins is a good place to start.
