Anyone wanting a copy of Old Salty's video on dvd can just pm me and I will send out a copy.

Its the 1985 World Championships in the Canary Islands (International Mistral Class). It features some Triangle Racing, Slalom, Free Style and Funboard.

Chris, you're a freestyle pro, so can you describe the freestyle part in the DVD please, so I see if it's worth getting it to North America?

Duration, worth, new moves I should know of ;-) , etc.

Thanks in advance,
P.

Hey Pierre

I am not sure the video will have a lot of educational value. Probably more entertainment.
Its about 40 minutes long as I removed all the trailers that had nothing to do with windsurfing.
The quality isnt brilliant as it is coming off a video that is over 20 years old. I removed a lot of the background noise in the audio, but you cant make a silk purse from a sows ear
If you want a copy, I will just send you one as postage isnt that expensive just for a dvd.

I just watched some of the DVD. They had a lot of fun at that regatta. I'd like to know the dates it happened as I can picture where I was at that time, at boarding school where it was freezing cold, rubbish food and being a junior with a bunch of sadistic seniors making life a misery.

At least some people were having fun in 85.

I love the colours of those Mistral sails. I used to see them in the magazines and they always looked good. Tis a pity modern sails are usually not as colourful and bright.

I have a couple of old Bombora boards here and they are hard enough just to sail... let alone on the boards they are using and trying all the moves they are making.

I haven't seen yet, but you're right that sometimes modern sailors don't seem to enjoy themselves. Much time is spent wondering which sail to rig, which new board to buy, how far to drive to get one more half-knot.

Equipment was more difficult to sail then, but it didn't seem to stress people out back then. I still often bring the old gear out and fart around with friends, around the guys with the long faces.
