Has anyone tried the new 2008 95 liter RRD freestyle wave?

I have the 07 model. If it is anything like the 07 you will love it. I use it as my light wind wave board ,my light wind flat water bump and jump board and for freestyle when I don’t have my Chilli with me. In the waves it feels much smaller than 95 litres. It just loves the waves. Bottom and top turning are effortless and it is equally manageable turning off the front or back foot. It feels super smooth over chop and is relatively quick compared to other 95 litre FSW boards. It loves to pop so whether hitting the lip at full speed or sliding backwards is your thing this board won’t disappoint.

I have the new 2008 95 litre FSW and my wife has the 90 litre. I haven't sailed my wiife's 90 litre (she loves it) but the 95 is excellent. The board planes easily (early) cuts the chop smoothly and loves to jump. I immediately felt at ease and started pushing my abilities as soon as i hit the water. The board feels smaller than it is and turns with ease, choose your arc and gybe with ease. I personnally don't find the board that fast although I tend to sail very inboard. For a FSW it slides backwards well provided you get the fin clear. The supplied fin is hugh and very much freeride. For me the fin lets the board down but then again it's a fin every level of sailer can use. I'm currently using a freestyle fin and love it, a good wave fin will be the next purchase.

I haven't really used my board in proper waves yet but I'm expecting great things (with the correct fin).

In my opinion the 95 litre RRD FSW is an excellent large board choice for Perth, it's got a bit of everything and gets through the Perth water with ease.

Speak to John at SOS he's very passionate about the 95 litre.

Hey Bullifamilie,

What sort of fin comes with the 08?

My 07 came with Maui Fin Company Fin which is excellent.

the 08 FSW comes with a Maui fin company fin. A good quality fin which can certainly be sailed by all abilities but for me it's a bit long and too freeridey.

yeah the mfc fins are too freeride, for the waves.

tried my 109 rrd-fsw with a leadingedge 24 (thanks bj) and it's suprisingly good on the wave for such a big board...even d-t-l ....bit gumby going upwind though.
