Got the option of the 98 or 102 second hand - Need a B&J board in between 92 Evo and 112 skate - something wave rideable and a seabreeze blaster (87-92kg's dependant on the season and how much Coopers I've been drinking)
Liked my 96 Kombat and should never have sold it
Like the fanatics - hear good reports - like the JP not sure about the long term reliability of build as I keep hearing and seeing breakage and easy damage.
Any thoughts from those that may have experienced both.
Cheers

I had the 2006 98 freewave, was one of the best boards I have ridden.
I mainly ride it on the bay so bump and jump stuff. I used mainly a 5.7 and a 5.3 on it and was great for freestyle with a smaller fin in it.
I also used it with a 23cm wave fin as a light wind wave board and it goes really really well in small down the line and has the volume to float out when its not much wind in the break. It feels really small for its size though.
I have since replaced it with the new version which is 95ltr feels very similar. given the 98 to my dad who wouldnt trade it for anything! he loves it!
it has taught him to carve gybe! the board has given him so much confidence he has started jumping and even asked me what he would have to do to try a loop!!!
Nothing but good things to say about it!!
hope you enjoy it!
