very nice work, good craftmanship !
Nothing to do with the quality of your job but I'm very suspicious of those hard nose protectors.

They were the big thing over here, everybody had them until we realized that they indeed wouldn't crack under impact but would transfer the shockwave to the board underneath, thus ending with a smashed nose that you couldn't see.
You would then still use the board and finish the session with a nose filled with water.
Recipe for delam !

the stick on foam ones are ugly but safer in my opinion

Gwen put some foam between the protector carbon section and the board, it should cushion and disperse the impact on nose, just like board lady says

It's not that hard. Like a lot of DIY, it's making sure you've gathered the proper tools and materials beforehand. His tips about using tape, cling wrap, etc make the seemingly impossible much easier than you might imagine.

Source - since I've started foiling, I've gotten really good at working with CF

Most rental boards i have seen have such protectors. They are very thick and heavy and do the job.
I made one this week for my sb 177 foil board with three layers 800gr/m2 quadraxial glass in vacuum. Should be strong enough

Btw: carbon is not good for a shock absorber imho. Glass is much better.

I though he did put some foam under the carbon protector, before he glued it on

thedoor,

Yes he did.
I should have said "Seanhogan, Gwen protected his board from the shock transfer by putting foam between the hard nose protector and the board..." .

:)

Exactly....foam between the carbon nose protector and the board...polyurethane glue must also absorb shock

I like my two layer nose protector, 1/16" plastic glued to 1/2" dense eva glued to board with loctite spray contact adhesive, cheap durable and takes a hit and dissipates the energy. A hard protector could damage a mast.

yeah, he had a very thin layer of purple foam under the carbon, too little imo to absorb a mast impact without transferring impact pressure to board nose and potentially damaging the board.

With your carbon nose protector, you can break the nose and the "protector" only will hidden the damage... is my opinion...

this is my nose protector inspired here, some members already done, is not my idea, but is very very cheap and works like a charm.
