So how's are you liking that 8.1? I have the original Hydra in a 5.5 and am wondering what it would be like to go bigger. I was on my RAF 7.3 freeride sail yesterday and it felt soooo heavy compared to the Hydra even when taking the difference in sail sizes into consideration.
I love this sail. I also did a write up on the differences between the 8.5 Hydra (now called pro) and the 8.1. In Colorado at 1830m above sea level, we lose 20% of our air density. This has been challenging for the lighter wind foiling. It's not uncommon to have a few sizes larger than normal for sailing around here.
I think Ezzy found a good shape and performance with this sail. I have two original Hydras; they have been excellent for foiling and for getting up in lighter air, but I think the new shape has less drag with that extended foot.
