i would be interested in any feedback regarding a topic on the windsurf forum, regarding a micheal peterson windsurf board i own.The topic is from revhead and he says...

1500 dollars for an old glassboard...he must be hoping that some stupid will buy it!

another guy compared this board to a 1988 nissan pulsar.Im pretty sure if i wanted a 1988 nissan pulsar i reckon i could find one.

anyway as asurfer myself im interested what the general surfing public's opinion is.

cheers pete.

Hi Pete. The point I was trying to make is that it seems strange that a windsurfer would buy a board for sentimental reasons when the newer boards are much more easy to use, faster, and comfortable.

I don't know anyone that I sail with that buys boards because it was built by someone in particular, unless it also suits their needs. The reference to a pulsar was that both things in their time were good, but you wouldn't necessarily pay much for either of them now when their are other better options available.

Alas, I am not a surfer, so I will not comment on whether a surfer sees this differently.

Dale.

I tend to agree with Dale, but collectables are a strange beast. Michael Peterson has little relevance to windsurfing if any at all, b u t I have no doubt the board has plenty of value to the right person. As a WA surfer MP was never an infuence anyway.

Hey dale

totally respect your thoughts towards this topic, what your pretty much saying is that most windsurfers don't really care much for sentimental sailboards.Thats cool.I have to say that i certainly have no idea what it is worth and if it doesnt sell i will be more than happy to keep it.I also would be extremely surprised if any one bought this board to ride on,although im told that he made sweet boards in his day.Im not 100% on this but he may have even made a board for robbie at some point.

Where i see value in the board is not for its performance factor but for the fact that mp a famous surfer/shaper and australian champion shaped it and may possibly be the only one like it around today, especially in this condition.
Thanks for all replies

cheers pete.

All I know is that Michael Peterson shapes the best Fish's of all time. I was lucky enough to own a "Fireball" About 7 years ago and the thing was a damn rocket!!!!

I rode the thing to the death mate. I owned it for 3 years, surfed it most days and by the end the deck had sunk soo bad on either side of the stringer at the tail it hurt my foot to surf it.
It snapped in the end due to an old crease. I put that board through hell.

I would buy one today for $1000 if I had the chance.

COme on MP- Bring on the retro!!!!

I had a micheal peterson wintersun thruster i think it was 5'11.I restored it so it was watertight and surfed it at the merimbula bar 2 to 4 feet,it was too fast for me so i gave to my mate who is lighter younger and better than me.He loved it and surfed it all afternoon.I had to paddle in cause his board was even smaller than than the mp.Anyway i was stoked to see the board out in the water again and it showed that he may have been nuts but he was a brilliant shaper.I sold that board for 1500 and the buyer was very happy.
