Nobody wants to tell you where they surf, they can but generally wont. The reason I hear you asking??? Well awarrior its cos they dont want every man, his dog, best friend and his mate who also has a girlfriend thats learning to surf all rock up to the spot that has been spoken about on a thread that lots of other people have seen as well, next minute - crowd crew drop ins ect agro in the water.
So thats the point and the fact that sumone starts a thread like that every couple of weeks thats why factor5 went oh gawd

Its not as if these three places are hidden or really have any secret spots left with hundreds of surfers from around the world heading there annually. If your heading off on a surf trip you want to have an idea about all of your options, and the best way to do that is to talk to people who have been and know what it is like.

Its fair enough if someone is asking about waves down south or anywhere around your local, because no one wants a bunch of people rocking up. I thought this forum was here for guys to talk about surfing and enjoying the thrill of it and to me heading off on a surf trip is one of the best parts of our sport.

So with Bali, Mentawis or Maldives it would depend on how much money I had and time frame. If your after a cheap trip has world class waves, bintang and the family can enjoy bali hands down. Mentawis and maldives have its bonuses with the options of boat trips or land camps. Mentawis has amazing waves but can get unbelievably crowded and can have limited places to go, which can be the same with maldives. However if your on a boat in maldives there is the option to travel and explore by hitting the southern atolls. This can be hit or miss but is generally unexplored compared to the more northern areas such as jails or Pasta point. This option is much more expensive and takes heaps more time, but can be worth it.

Any projects on the go cRaZy?

Yeah the Unit - finished the major stuff in the kitchen and living room (though still need to paint baseboards and find lights) starting to look at the bathrooms, spalshing some paint the the bedroom and getting the built in's in.

After that a kite course race board - have the foam all glued up need to split it for a stringer and shape it, glass it, paint it.

Then again seeing as of this last Tuesday I'm allowed to kite again I'd love to give the quad surfboard I made for kiting a go.......

Kite race boards are starting to look more and more like formula boards (outline wise):

There typically wide flat with squared tails not to mention the fins are canted somewhere around 10-12 degrees and are 30cm or so deep depending on the design.

Puttering around having someone with a milling machine create a fin mould that I can cook at work- then again not sure if I want to go through the pain on making my own fins but think I know how to make it work.

Think I might put a slightle drawn out bat wing tail on it
