I had bone ground away in one early last November. All good now, painful and stiff before. The official piece of paper from the surgeon called it "shoulder reconstruction" but it was just grinding away the end of the AC joint, no muscle or tendon work. I was in and out the same day (supposed to stay the night but felt good enough to go). Drugs for a week or two then all good. Surfing again I think after Christmas (about 8 weeks IIRC). Now I'm way better than before, lifting weights with no pain, paddling with no soreness or stiffness. Still some clicking occasionally but nothing catching like before.

Work colleague's wife had both done a month or two before me. She had a much worse prognosis, slings for months, no activity for like 6 months, possible full recovery (or not) in over a year.

Did either of you guys play cricket , baseball or any other games where "throwing" was involved?

(does'nt include coins , or any other drinking game )

Mine was from poor form and excessive weight lifting over several years. Caused osteoarthritis and spurs etc.

I'd agree with that - I'd say make sure you hit the physio and strengthen it up before the surgery though.

Always good to have some trippy movies to watch when you get home took me 3 days to work what ever they gave me out of my system.

I had a tendon sewn down to some anchors (2) so it would re-attach.
