I had bone ground away in one early last November. All good now, painful and stiff before. The official piece of paper from the surgeon called it "shoulder reconstruction" but it was just grinding away the end of the AC joint, no muscle or tendon work. I was in and out the same day (supposed to stay the night but felt good enough to go). Drugs for a week or two then all good. Surfing again I think after Christmas (about 8 weeks IIRC). Now I'm way better than before, lifting weights with no pain, paddling with no soreness or stiffness. Still some clicking occasionally but nothing catching like before.
Work colleague's wife had both done a month or two before me. She had a much worse prognosis, slings for months, no activity for like 6 months, possible full recovery (or not) in over a year.
