Anybody tried re-sealing wetsuit seams? I bought myself a really nice excel in 2010. Was the best wetsuit I ever owned for the first year but now it starts leaking a fair bit and I am not looking forward to cold mornings in August ....
The wetsuit still fits perfectly an neoprene is still stretchy so I would like to get another winter out of it.

Hi
I used a product bought from local surfshop neo res ???
Quick drying and seems to work well.
For larger holes it also acts as glue for putting patch on.
Sorry for not knowing exact name of product but a call to your local surf shop hopefully will get you sorted

I use a automotive silicon called Bostik Auto Silicon - it's in a white tube with a black and grey panel and blue cap...
It's normally used for sealing leaking car windows and sunroofs etc... the beauty of this stuff is it's a fairly thin silicon and is easy to work with - best of all once dry it is really stretchy so good for wetties.
Technique: Do your best hand sewing to join any splits/tears and then lay the wettie out as flat as you can - gently stretching the seam to be repaired (weight down ends if needed).
Put a bead of the silicon along the seam - quickly follow with a pop-stick or other stiff spatula and spread flat. It spreads well, so you should be able to get a smooth glossy finish.
It skins in 10min and fully sets in 48hrs.
I've used this a couple of times and it works really well. It doesn't even rub your skin - I've used mine for the very top neck seam and it does not bother me at all.
Good luck

Thanks for the feedback! I have heard that the aquaseal is not very elastic so I was going to try the Bostik Auto Silicone. Unfortunately it looks like they have discontinued the product. Will look for something similar to the Bostik stuff or try the aquaseal after all ... will let you know how it worked.
