had a good run of surf in may/early june on the east coast and i had a couple of days when i had 2 surfs in the one day..which pretty well stiches me up now..2 beers, a glass of red with something to eat and falling asleep on the lounge at 7.30..got me to thinking about the most surfs i had had in one day!
Surprisingly the biggest day of surfing i could remember was actually in Europe, as i had been stuck in London (1991) broke for 7-8 months working to make some money ..
got a flight to bilbao then the bus downtown and then the train and then the bus to mundaca and arrived in the arvo....got on the turps at the the local bar(s) that night and surfed the next day in 4-6 foot Mundaca for a couple of surfs which nearly killed me after 7 months of no surfing and a hangover that would kill a black dog
next day was a solid 8 feet and apart from being rusty as F%#K ,and getting an absolute pizzling on the inside section, i had 4 surfs totalling 11.5 hours in the water (pumping and i was as the kiddies say now "frothing") as it got light at about 6.30-7 and didn't get dark till 9.30-10 at night and it was big enough to surf through the tides..had planned to stay a week but end up staying a month at Mundaca..one of the best places i ever went!!
was nearly going to post on the 90's thread but 20 years later there is no way i could conceive putting that many hours(or beers) in now!
anyone else got some marathon memories?

For me, the longest I've ever surfed for was 8 hours.

But that was 8 hours without a single break except to paddle in to drink some water out of my bag and then paddle straight back out.

5, 8 and 7 on consecutive days. Mid 20s. Couldn't do it now, and it requires a particular break (with not many duckdives necessary).

If I had my way I would be surfing all day on the weekends. A couple of weeks ago I surfed from 8am. When it got to 3pm I had to crawl onto the beach and have a quick nap because I was that stuffed that I couldnt duck dive anymore. Needless to say I got back out there after 15 mins rest!

i went up to Joondalup a couple of weeks back to have a look at those indo-shaped 3S surfboards that were being advertised on gumtree.

When looking at a Retro Fish style board, the bloke was telling me he copied the shape from an old heavy fiberglass board he found aboard an indo fishing trawler.

He was saying he had one of his best days ever in the surf on that board, and was out there for a solid 11 hours with the local kids paddling out regularly with water, food and sunscreen. If true, thats one hell of an effort and sounds like an awesome day.

Who am I to doubt him, surfing is all about good stories :)
