Last week i was surfing at my local beach break, when i was duck diving a sucky wave the lip got me pushed me into the bottom i think and i dislocted my knee cap! It moved about 5 cm, lucky i had a mate that helped me get to shore where i spent about 1hr30mins before i got shipped off to the hospital! Has any one else done this kind of injury? how long were you out of the water? I dont want to do it again.. and im abit worried about going back into the water as its my leg that the leg rope goes on etc!!

Another reason for me to stop duck diving on knee. Hope the recovery is not too long

Did you just get out of bed?

I use my foot mostly, you can get deeper.

Knee is ok for smaller waves but over head foot

So true Katana, my mate smashes his boards

Don't think I've ever used my knee for a duck diving.

Out of bed

Sadly today was up at 6.30 and drove from Mindarie to Beeliar down freeway. Took nearly two hours one way[}:)]

I've always used my knee's but have been trying to change to foot. But old habits are hard to change

I only use my knee when its small, but it was low tide sucky im sure i hit the bottom it felt way to solid to be my board! **** of an injury though!! I just want to get back in the water and for it not to happen again... was not fun plus i had my 2 month old top of the range steamer cut off me by the paramedics although that did not worry at the time!!

My son has had his come out 4 times. Physio & exercises are they way to go. He should of had 6 weeks out but didn't and paid the price. He has used the exercises and it worked well, if he stops his knee cap pops out. It will be on going for a long time.
