I refuse to fly jetstar anymore. Nothing but dramas and crap service.
Last time I flew with them we went from
Perth to Bali - Not a problem.
Then Bali to Darwin - not a problem
Then Darwin to Cairns - not a problem
When we came to check in to come home from Cairns all of a sudden my wifes Mal is too big to get on the plane. Go figure aye??? So there we are in Cairns and cant get her Mal on the plane to come back to Perth. [}:)]
Damn you DodgyJet!!

that might be because domestic flights are A320 and international flights are A330

Jetstar pack all the luggage into crates which are then packed into the aircraft, this is why they have the length restriction...if it wont fit in the crate they can't put it on.....all the other airline just load it straight into the hold so they can fit all sorts of sifferent sizes in...if they say its too long there is no way they will let it on in my experience....I won't fly with them again.

Jetstar are the most awkward airline to deal with. In 2008 flew from Sydney to gold coast and return with a 7'10 surfboard no problems either way. Last year same destination but at checked in I was told that the board was to big and it would not be going on aircraft. I told the check in woman that I had travelled with the same board and she said that there was no way it went on the aircraft. I even showed her the sticker from the previous year but to no avail. When asked what I could do her reply was "thats not my problem". I eventually got the board up to the Goldy by courier at $70.00 each way, not happy Jan!!!!. I talked to a Jetsatr supervisor at the Gold coast and she said they have this trouble all the time and it basically comes down to the person on the check in counter. Not a good way to do business or way to treat customers, will not be travelling with them again, next time will fly with Virgin

I flew with them a while ago when they just bought in a "sporting goods fee".

We didnt know about that and payed extra so we could check in some luggage (our boards) only to find out surfboards came under the "sporting goods fee" which we had to pay for. So the extra luggage we paid for was a waste of money( we only checked in board bags and a backpack as carry on)

Only had to pay it on the way back though, the person behind the checkin counter in Perth let it slide for the trip over.

ah rightio cheers for that. might have to rethink packing options.
latest word from Air Asia is first 15kg = $15 and every kg over that is $10 each.
bummer

There is a weight limit for the surfboards too. Not sure how much it is but I had 3 boards, a towel and a few pairs of shorts/t-shirts and it was OK.

It does pay to read the fine print

IIRC it was around AUS$30
Read the fine print on there website and just weigh your stuff before you go to the airport. Im sure the weight limit of sporting goods was on there last time i looked

Looks to me as though surfboards (Sports Equipment) are $20 from Oz to Indo (max weight 15kg) and 150,000 rups from Indo to Oz

I am flying Air Asia and will be taking at least 2 prob 3 surfboards and a couple of kites etc so I paid extra (can't remember how much ATM was something like $20/25/flight) to allow me 30kg. This sounded great but it sounds like I'm gunna still get slugged for a sporting goods fee anyway, I wish I had read this sooner
Anyway at the price I paid for the tickets $82 each way + taxes + extra luggage fee = $289 total , I think I did well even if I do get slugged a $20 sporting goods fee at the airport.

Catch you their Spot 1, I'm all set and starting to get excited, I've just got to decide which boards to take now 6'2, 6'4' and 6'8" or maybe........
