i have a three fin shortboard that has glassed in fins which im not a fan of. if i took it to a shaper or someone, would it be possible to cut holes in it so i could use removable fins instead?

Yes definitely. They'll cut off the old fins and grind back to the bottom plane, then jig, drill or route holes and install either FCS or Futures fin boxes for you. Best if you do a bit of research and decide up front if you want to go down the Futures or FCS route.

Or just buy another board!!!
By the time you pay for that "little" rejig at (conservative) pricing of $100 per finbox (going on ding fixing prices these days) you could get yourself a bloody good board off gumtree/sea breeze buy n sell/ ebay

I've had a quote of $100 to do three fins. At least I think it was all three...

It's economically unviable.
why take off proper glass fins? Nothing rides better than glass fins?
a few years ago I went the other way on a nice old hand shaped rusty it had fcs and I got fins glasses on

Get it done at Naruki on Benasari lane next time your in Bali if your really keen. But I agree with Raz. I have a Rick Jacko Alloy Joy 6'8 you can see the FCS fins under a glass job. I surfed that board for just over 10 years coz I reckoned it went pretty good with glassed in fins.
