G'day Japes

I've been running with FCS2 for a while now, basically when tossing up between those and futures it was the variety available with FCS2 and the fact i could use the existing sets of FCS with it also. I've invested a lot in fins over the years so those two points were important to me however if your running Futures already and have a couple of sets it would piss you off for sure.

All in all i think the FCS2 is a huge improvement on the original, a lot stiffer at the base and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them, very easy to change out and no wearing of the screws or the tool if you take your fins out often.

Hope this helps.

I went to my local surf store who stock a huge range of fins,I was looking for fcs1 but they only had 10 sets in stock but had over 70 fcs2's.

I've got both systems but I think futures have the edge for stiffness. I find the FCS2 system can be hard on the glass around the boxes when you pop them in and out. I've lost fins with the FCS2 system so I put a screw in anyway. So overall I think Futures are better if you can find a setup that works for you.

I have a few boards with them as well as futures. I like the fcs 2 for ease of changing fins and the range now available but that's about where the positives end. I've nearly lost a couple as my leggy has wrapped around them and popped them out, also I've ripped a couple of plugs out still attached to the fin and as the fins overlaps the plug they make an awful mess if the board.... it's my understanding that futures plugs are able to be secured stronger in the board than fcs2....

I like the system, but it's easy to crack the glass around the box if you are not careful. Nice range of fins.

I think where Futures wins is it's a simpler box with one screw, but as I use FCS2 I will stick with it for now but Futures has a nice range of fins as well, bit more expensive as well depending on the construction.

Geez you guys are hard on your equipment. I've had no problem with fcsII and I surf shallow reefs where they get knocked all the time.

I use Reactors, and large and xl large Performers in a variety of thrusters and quads.

Your boards are glassed properly Drip. Only problem I've ever seen with FCS2 or futures has been on 4oz Glass jobs usually high volume constructs.

Mine was just a small crack at the front of the box, tbh the fin took most of the damage and both were easily fixed. No other problems other than when they are new bloody hard to get fins in and out. Heaps easier once you have had them in and out a few times.

Aah. True - forgot that one. 6/4 minimum. Double 6 generally. Makes all the difference I am sure.
