hey i known theyre are many of these threads but cant find a specific answer on my problem so ill keep it short n sweet
can you use any old epoxy resin from bunnings or must it be a specific type that is more compatible with sea water and uv as i noticed all repair tutorials/kits online mention a 2:1 ratio whereas bunnings sell it as a 1:1

also where can you buy q cell filler or a good subsitute for surfboards as bunnings brands seem to be suited towards homes instead of sufboards

thanks in advance! :)

better of buying a DIY repair kit off the net or your local surf shop. The O&E kits have everything u need including Q-cell.
U can make your own q-cell from surfboard foam dust.

You sure about that surfboard foam dust thing?

I am sure I tried it about 20 years ago and it just didn't gel the way q-cell does. I may be wrong. It was a while ago.

i just noticed the o&e epoxy kit doesn't contain q cell filler and the only way to purchase it is in the fibreglass repair kit which has polyester resin but that will melt my board away :(

also the epoxy resin comes in a single tube rather than mixing it yourself, whats up with that?

That's probably UV cured resin.

Yeah sorry diggles. I didn't realise the epoxy kit doesn't have q-cell..... I wouldn't recommend it but a mate of mine has used saw dust as q-cell. Essentially the q-cell is used as a binding agent to give the resin some structure and bulk. Must admit that I haven't used q-cell with epoxy resin only polyester resin. Good luck!
