After being stored indoor all summer I threw on my 12 month old flash bomb Friday morning, only for the seam to split along the chest panel.

I'd rather not fork out another $500 for rubber so does anyone know of somewhere in WA that specialise in wetsuit repairs?

Also the zip on my coffin has seized. If WD40 won't work is there anyone local who can fix my zipper?

Thanks in advance. I hope everyone has scored waves over Easter !

I'm doing some patch up work myself. I ordered some seam tape and seam glue before Easter and it's arrived now. Didn't cost much and I don't really care since I did fork out not-$500 for a new e-bomb recently. Instructions seem straightforward enough for each method. Check ebay.

I had the same thing with a 12 month old E bomb except on the knee panel. I express posted it to Rip Curl without a receipt and it got back to me within 4 days free of charge. Rip Curls warranty service has always been top notch but unfortunately their suits aren't the same quality that they used to be. Mine's only 1 season old and has been back for repairs twice already. Mind you I reckon the extra strain put on the seams while getting in / out of the chest zip are partially to blame. Here's the link for their warranty claims

Persist with the WD40 or get a can of Inox. I too have had many seized zips and you just have to patient and let the spray penetrate. Spray then leave for an hour, wiggle the zip around, spray leave for an hour, wiggle the zip around, spray leave overnight, wiggle in the morning... it will eventually come free.

I know it maybe too late but prevention seems to be the best cure I have found.

Wetsuits - after each winter I soak it in fresh water for a few days and then dry in the shade and leave in the closet. Never had an issue the last 6 yrs that I have been employing this tactic. Same for spring suits. O'Neill Psychos seem to like this treatment. One lasted 4 yrs and next one is still going strong.

Board bag zips - have lost many board bags to the dreaded zip issue - A few yrs back someone on the Breeze mentioned that you need to make sure you leave the zip in a different place each day after use. Seems to have worked a treat. I use Creatures bags for the two boards I use the most and they are now 3 yrs old and still going strong. Long may they last !

JAM have done a couple of wetty repairs for me - good quality work at a reasonable price (~$30 - $40 depending).

I did some taping tonight. Put tape in position, heat with iron for 6-8 seconds, done. Great job, very neat and feels like factory job. Highly recommended.

Glue, on the other hand, was very messy, but I'll tape over that later when it cures.

JAM Westuit in Greenwood have repaired a couple of wetties for me and did a great job for a good price.

I've also got a couple of Squid covers and they are really good. Taken boards to Bali in them plenty of time with no issues. The owner seems like a good bloke too.

Yeah I would like to know myself seeing as I recall them located close to Trigg or surrounding suburbs so it would be a simple drive to go pick up rather than ordering online!

Squidie used to live in Karrinyup and if you knew him personally, you could grab stuff from his house but he has since moved down to Margies. His business is mainly online purchasing with no shop which keeps the cost right down, his products are also of good quality so a win for everyone.
Cheers
