I swear I must have researched just about every beach on the Perth coastline, and nothing seems to work during those days when there appears to be zero swell. I went down south (Margaret River) a year ago, to find that on days when breaks like North and South Point weren't producing any waves (most well known spots were the same), you'd just take a drive down to left handers or cobblestones and there'd be good 2-3 foot waves on offer. Is there anything like that in Perth (a lefties or cobblestones equivalent) - even more a longboard if the waves aren't big enough for a shortboard, because I'm getting bored on this flat swell!

no chance get a boat and hit the outer reefs between 1m 2m swell or go to rotto

for years ive been trying to convince myself that perth has got good waves. i cannot kid myself anymore perth is absolute ****! even when theres swell it closes out. there must be about 30 good surfable days in a year not enough to keep me satisfied.

see my post on "Surfing if you live in Perth".
It won't help for days where there's zero swell though.
Then you need to learn to kitesurf mate! you won't stay bored for long. believe me its worth the investment... you get the best of both worlds!
hope it helps and all the best

Get a boat

I've had 3 surfs this week at 2 different locations only 2ks from shore

2 of those surfs were in pretty solid wave with no more than 8 guys in the water and everyone was getting their quoter

how did this start another kites vs sails debate? haha
god knows theres been enough blood spilt already

but in all seriousness, i started kiting bout 3 years ago now and have never looked back. for the summer months its great to be able to get in the water and still have a great time without much swell. even during winter if theres a decent swell on a 20 knot NWer i can cruise out and not have to paddle

i say do whatever you can to get in the water and have fun. thats my 2 cents anyway
