Hey guys , I'm heading to Bali with the family .I have been there a few times before and mainly hang out at Kuta beach, which gets bloody good at times. Kids are 9 and 10 and enjoy smallish surf. Is it worth looking else where or stick to the beachie
Any nice/cheap hotels to recommend to would be appreciated
Hey,anyone been to cangu

Cheers

Kinda pricey in comparison to everywhere, but great location for a family in my opinion. Right on the cusp of the beach between mega beach/stall hard sell & not so bad either side of Jalan Kartika (road) or the beach. Kuta beach is right out front & adjusting size is as simple as walking North for more size, waterbomb is a few minutes South & Discovery mall. Poppies one is also very close if you or the missus is into haggling. Any extra money paid can be saved in less time loss & ability to walk everywhere you might wanna go around there...Also other places in that area if you click on the map to look, I think Dynasty has a special atm also coz there is some building going on, prices good for hotel quality but would still say Bali Garden Beach Resort is better located for the beachie. www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g297697-d1197452-Reviews-Bali_Garden_Beach_Resort-Kuta_Kuta_District_Bali.html

If you stay near Old Man's the kids could surf there. There's an inside break on high tide. On small swell, any tide, you could take them out the back. It picks up a more swell than kuta so could get too big. Some beach breaks walking south could also be suitable. Echo Beach itself is not likely suitable. Don't expect to escape any crowds at these spots.

My tribe and I stayed at Hard Rock last time. Was handy for me to sneak out to Kuta Reef early then be back for breakfast and the days festivities. You have plenty of options.

Check out Legong Keraton, it's an affordable 3 star hotel right on the beach north of Seminyak and an easy stroll along the beach up to Canggu where on sunrise you'll score a few lonely waves. It's clean and tidy but not 5 star. There are beachies out the front that can get epic. Breakfast is good but there are heaps of new eating and drinking options around for lunch and dinner. A couple of hundred metres inland and you're in the paddy fields. Finns resort is right next door but you hardly hear the place. Was there in October for the 3rd time, scored waves and good times with the family.

I have a villa right next to 66 road, border of Legian / seminyak and about 500m walk to the beach, 3 bedrooms and big pool etc. we rent it out, if you're interested let me know. It's pretty sweet, in a great spot and fairly cheap...
