The cheap foamies can be a false economy. Give it a good bend test and chat to someone who owns one, you generally get what you pay for.

Yes.. I bought cheap bodyglove ones from Anaconda and they both snapped on the first surf in 1-2ft surf

Think it's worth trying for a refund?
