So the dredger has been working overtime over the last 6 months at Cronulla and we were told that it was going to improve the banks.

To date I havn't seen this and personally I think the banks off the Alley are the worst they have been for a few years. I know its all shifting sands and they will probably come back.

Admittedly due to work and family pressures last 3 months or so I havnt been able to hit the earlies....but the lates have been mostly so-so

Anyone think it will get better sooner rather than later? Do we need a big swell to move the sand around a little more? Should they have sunk some sort of artificial reef before dumping the sand in "strategic" locations?

Have they done much work on the beach such as fencing, brushing etc to hold the sand.

Its being a long time since I have surfed in metro perth but it seems to me when I look at Floreat, Scarborough where they have made a determined effort to protect the beaches the banks are no longer what they used to be.

I recall also reading something about Narrabeen where local surfers claimed rehab work had reduced sand flow and therefore impacted on the banks.

I thought what they were doing an Cronulla was dumping sand behind the wave line and it was hoped as the sand came onto the beach it would set up some banks.
