- 5'6 fish: basically half a longboard that catches waves easily, turns on a dime (especially as a twinfin) and can go vertical. Was in head high stuff yesterday and it just flew!

-6'6 shorty: for the bigger days and a great all rounder. Got on a few bombies on this the other week and its goooooood.

To be honest it seems to cover all conditions but you can never have enough boards

*Am actually curious about noseriding too (oh no longboards!?!?). May have left my run too late tho with winter swell kicking in...

Depends on your height and weight mate. If it were me though, and assuming that 6 foot 6 was bought as a beginner - intermediate short board, I would be looking at a more high-performance short board. Especially given that winter is on its way.

I would either go towards a thinner 6'4 or and 6'2 with a tiny bit more width. Most modern short boards these days are going shorter and wider, and flatter (only slightly, I'm not talking about fishes).

Ultimately, you want a reliable short board that can rip. Something that when you stomp it, it will accelerate.

Short of that mate, a mini mal wouldn't hurt. But all of this is just my opinion based on me pretending I know your size / weight.

If you want to nose ride go the 9'6 or 9'2" mal, dont stuff around with mini mals.

Stylish Mal riding is another skill to add and it will help your short boarding out. With mal riding you need to read the wave better, a longer mal will give you paddle power, glide and stability to walk the plank...

In the last week I have ridden my 10'11" Sup, 6'2" fish, 6'6" fish (great beachies session), my 6" kite board and even caught a few on my own belly (body surfing) and today had a great session on the 9'6" mal...varity plus

Hope to be able to add in the 5'11" dunny door I have just put the last gloss coat on in the comming week.

At one stage had nine boards from 5,10 to 6,8 now Ive got a 6,3 ACT 6,3 AB channel bottom and the 6,4 FireWire.

I need a 6,0 - 6,3 fish thingo and I need a 6,6-7 and a longish midlenghth thing as well. Next summer now I think.

Yeah PP, the 6'6 is a Simon Anderson XFC so its pretty decent. My 5'6 webber minifish is my all rounder go to board. Sounds like I'm juggling between a performance shorty or a noserider (kill 2 birds with 1 stone as I want to try how a single fin surfs).

Atleast my wishing list ain't as dire as Doggies. Now to scour Gumtree for my next board!

i would definetly try a carbon wrap epoxy around 6,3 x 19 1/2 x 2 1/2 thruster .might even have something close 2nd hand you could demo.!!

Just remember there is a formula for the perfect amount of surfboards

B+1 / S-1 = Perfect quiver

B = The current amount of surfboards in you quiver
S = The amount of boards that will make your spouse leave you

It's kinda a pain to figure out. Someone might have some other suggestions but

Guess method, rough guide, look at the blank site and find something similar and you'll get a rough idea. You can use other sites but the blank one has nose tail and all the other dimensions.

Or you can download some board design software like Aku shaper and put your board dimensions into that and it will tell you the volume. But it will take you a while to get the hang of using it.

Or go to swaylocks for some more ideas and a very very long mathematical formula

Works well, you can take a pic of your board for the outline and upload to the program.

its coming up with 28 litres on aku.. looks exactly like mine.

according to that diverse site.. if i was a pro surfer / advanced surfer, with my weight id be looking at about 25-26 litres. so add a few litres for being an average surfer and it sounds about right
