SAD DAY, West Surfing products will no longer be based in WA. It seems the latest owners have decided it's not viable to run the company here and have packed all their wetties and gear in a container and sent them to the West Coast of the US. Local jobs lost and no more locally developed Wetsuits. Westies started out back in the early 80's by a couple of local surf beach blokes who thought they would have a crack. They started making there suits out of a factory unit in Rockingham and built from there. Pat and Roger are unfortunately no longer pulling the financial strings in the company and it seems that with out that West Coast surf connection and passion it's all over. If you want a West Surfing product now you will have to get it from the US or Asia I guess. Ironic thing is the last batch of Wetsuits that came through would probably of been their best.

Unfortunately for them, I was only a customer of theirs once. Need I say more?

Not sure that's a warranted statement. I've only ever worn West wetsuits. I've always bought less expensive suits and found the models they produced for this range to be good value for money. I found they also designed the more humble wetsuits, which I immensely appreciate. Lets your surfing do the talking in the lineup, rather than your sense (or lack thereof) of fashion.

Thats bad news for sure. I have always worn their wetsuits and found them to be good.
Are there any other West Oz brands of wetties to choose from?

There was Sirocco wetsuits in Freo but I don't know if they are still going or what their wetsuits are like.

As for large surf gear distributors there can't be many in Perth. Only two that I can think of would be Rusty and Creatures but maybe someone in the industry would have a better idea.
