I have a board bag that has a broken zip; I can get the board in and out easily, I just can't close the bag at all. Is it alright to, for example, just put tape over the board bag with the board in it, so that it's tight and won't fall out for the flight over? Or would it be recommended to buy another bag and lock the zip or what?

If you tape it up just make sure they can open it to put a big bag of leafy green stuff with buds in it!!!

Sounds like your gonna have to buy a new bag sooner or later..buy 1 sooner

www.squid.net.au

$90 and you even get a t-shirt, 2 bricks of wax, and a new stomp pad.

Best thing about them is the zipper is on the top and not the side, soo much better that way.

cRAZY; that's actually the brand of the bag I have. But I'm not looking to buy a new bag right now - just bought one for the board I'll be using most. If it'll be safe enough just to tape up the bag or something similar, I'm happy.

my zip went so i just punched a few holes in the side and cable tied it up before the flight, cut them when i got there then cable tied it to get home with. bags still good after 17 years, just got a bodgy zipper. theres not too many of the worlds problems that cant be solved with silver tape, cable ties and multi grips.

Yeah, its the bag I got with my board, which is now broken. Like Joe said, keep it SUPER lubed - the salt water got into mine and killed the slider. But otherwise the bags are good - can't say the same for the leggies though. I've had one creatures leggie for my entire surfing life (9 years or so) and it hasn't broken - the Squid lasted me about a year.

got a few squid leggies and no dramas, leggies are a bit like boards, put one in the wrong place and they go, all it takes it a little nick in the cord. If u use them heaps and the cord doesnt snap, the velcro normally wears in a couple years anyway.
