If it weren't for the fact the fin doesnt fit in properly and that the plug is wrong way around, I may be proud of this as my first shot... unfortunately it is haha. I've tightened the screws and the fin seems to hold its place. Guess Ill see how it goes next sesh.

Anybody got any tips? If only I could find a sander it'd be alright. Guess this gives me more reason to thrash this around and get another board when its stuffed

Newguy - I hate to be critical, but apart from not looking good - that fix does not look water tight (see how the glass matting is exposed, and also the edges are lifting).

Given that you've already had a go yourself why not dig it out, correct the plug orientation and start again? May as well...

PS - it looks like you've got resin inside both of those plugs... (and that new plug looks strange - it seems too small and is recessed).

hey mate,
looks dodgy but totally cool as those fcs plugs can be a bit tricky to put in properly without the FCS jig and a router etc. as for sanding, I wouldn't bother as a sander is a tricky beast and will eat fiberglass and foam like a shark if you let it get away. if you want you could just hat sand with some wet and dry 180 grit or so.
otherwise, just surf it!

I agree. Nice first effort. They are tricky. I normally use 180 grit to start then 240 wet n dry to finish.

Yeah, think Im gonna do that guys. Might wait for a better day without the wind and rain. The other plug is an original and I tried to copy it. Just not as good as you seasoned pro's eh Digging it out will be interesting haha. Funny it's always the shortboards that take a beating!

Pffffffft the planks only good fun for baby days and walking up to the nose mate. Anything bigger, you go for the real boards But to be honest mate I got a Mctavish that I'm keen to grab... once I raise the funds haha. Yeep imagine if I was
old and wise'... and senile? :D

Cheers Fuall. Theres now a massive crater in that area. Can't believe how hard it was taking that stuff out. Stuck like hell!

Bloody hell!

Use an ond fin as a jig.
Don't worry about the orientation of the plug, but not a recessed one.
