Thanks to a recent incident whilst surfing that has caused my board to have 2 creases in its nose, I'm now looking at buying a new one.
I've been looking at quads for a while now and am wondering what sort of feedback is out there.....
What are the advantages/disadvantages of a quad. Am I better off sticking with what I know or should I take that leap of faith?
Times gone by I would have just bought the quad and sold it if I didn't like it, but times have changed and cash is tight so I would like to make somewhat of an educated decision on this one.
Also do tail shapes change the way a board handles as a quad just the same as a thruster?
All opinions, good or bad, are welcome
Cheers

Joe,
You can buy or get made a board now days that has 5 fin possitions so if you don"t like it as a quad you can ride it as a thruster.I've been riding quads for about 5 years now and just like the way they handle in steep faced waves-no side slip and hang on like the missus to your pay check.I've got a quiver of round, squash and swallow tail shapes and they all go differently, just make sure the board is made by someone who nows about fin placement because it is VERY important.

I agree, buy a Burton. He shapes the best quads! I know I have one

Yeah, I've often wondered about the whole 5 fin plug thing.....
If you go from quad to thruster, are the side fins that remain in place, in the same position/angle as the would be if you had a dedicated quad/thruster?

Then again if it didn't work 5 plug system wouldn't still be around i guess...

Do the tail shapes you have on your quads behave in the same way as they would in a thruster?

What do the quads do not as well as a thruster?
